Only reason I dont use it any more is I ha. This is a terrific sounding multi-channel player. I would be waiting for the DV8400 in hope of improved bass management and Faroudja processing, if it's actually there like the post mentions. For Sale: Mint condition Marantz DV8300 SACD/DVD Player complete with User Manual and dedicated Remote. But Marantz claims credit for the DV-8300s audio design, if not for its specific audio features. Oh, about all of those connections, I think the RS-232 port might be for firmware upgradability. I'm a bit wary about trying the new Denon 2900, when they have had so many lock-up issues with all of their 2800/3800 players, that's why I'm leaning towards Marantz. To be honest, I could probably live with them, I just don't think I should have to. I'll probably return it, not because of some single glaring deficiency, but because of the numerous small ones I listed above. I've had the player for about a week and a half, and I have 2 months to return it for a full refund. Mine's not that bad, but it still doesn't give me a good feeling about the player. There is a thread over on the AVS forum about someone having a DVD-S2300 with vibration problems so bad that you could actually hear it. I'll try these discs in my old DVD player tonight and see if it behaves in the same manner. It's almost like the LOTR discs are out of balance when they are spinning, and the player is unable to compensate. I checked about 10 other discs and none of them had any vibration when played. It still seems to play fine, but there is a definite vibration in the player when I play both the actual movie disc and the additional features disc.
